Our policy on preventing the spread of infection

With the current swine flu pandemic spreading in the UK, we want to let our customers know what precautions we are taking to ensure that all MerryGoRound Toys are clean and safe and that we minimise any risk of spreading the infection.

We believe that the likelihood of spreading the infection via our toys or staff is minimal, but MerryGoRound Toys is taking the following actions to protect staff and customers:
• Continuing our current rigorous cleaning, including cleaning hands with soap and water before packing each box, and cleaning toys thoroughly with anti-bacterial disinfectant,
• In addition, we are asking delivery staff to use an anti-bacterial alcohol hand rub immediately before delivery and as soon as returned box has been placed in the vehicle.
• We recommend that customers regularly wipe down toys with antibacterial wipes or soapy water during their hire period, especially if toys are shared with other children.

Our toy hire service now offers Large Toys

Our large toys are simply counted as two or three normal toys and replace this number in each Toybox. We’re adding to our stock regularly, but our current selection includes a couple of beautiful wooden ride-ons, an airport, a kitchen, a huge train set and even a fold-up rocking horse! We’re keen to know which larger toys you’d most like to see, so please do let us know.

Good Toy Guide votes this year's winners

The National Association of Toy and Leisure Libraries has recently published their Good Toy Guide, full of top toys tested and rated by children and parents. Our very own MerryGoRound Toys Parents Panel test and rate our toys (if you’d like to be one of them, find out more here). You’ve clearly all got great taste, as we already offer many of these award-winning toys for hire - and we hope to add even more to our selection. Look out for the award-winners as you browse our toys.

Award-winners include:
First Friends Train Set: a colourful, chunky first train set for younger children. Learn to build the track and enjoy the noise and action as the train chuffs round.
Chunky Farmyard and Safari Puzzles: visually-appealing, great for both practising puzzles and making your own farmyard or safari scenes. These puzzles won the Silver Award in the Puzzles category.

And winners from last year’s Good Toy Guide include:
Turn n Sort: a “beautifully tactile and well-made” puzzle that provides a great challenge for pre-schoolers. Even younger children can enjoy it, sorting and naming colours or twisting the pieces onto the posts. This toy won overall in the category of Inclusive Toys.
Music Centre: a lovely wooden drum/ xylophone/ cymbal combination that makes a more pleasant sound than many cheap plastic imitations.
Animags: with strong visual appeal and high quality, these let children invent a world in which animals can be made of a pig, a cat and a horse in one - or play with them as a puzzle, trying to match the pieces together correctly.
Wedgits: a modern classic, and overall winner for the over threes. Our starter set is also suitable for younger hands and gives endless options for stacking and wedging.

Fantastic new wooden toys arrived today

We’re always adding new toys to our inventory, and just arrived today is a great range of wooden toys. All made in Thailand from sustainable rubberwood, the new selection ranges from the gorgeous rainbow blocks, great for babies and toddlers, through to a lovely cooker and cooking set, ideal for role play. We’ve also added a domino game with a twist: the vehicles are in 3D so younger children can just enjoy building the cars and matching the right colour together, while older children can play the traditional game of dominoes.
